Data privacy in the RiseUp App

Status: August 14, 2026. This declaration applies to the RiseUp App for iOS and Android. For the online shop rise-up.store, the separate privacy policy applies.

1. Controller

RiseUp, Owner: Tristan Häseker, c/o Adressgeber #2175, An der Alten Ziegelei 38, 48157 Münster, Germany. Email: info@rise-up.store

2. First things first

The app does not collect any data about you. There is no account, no registration, and no server from us. The app contains no proprietary network code and no third-party libraries for analytics, advertising, or crash reporting. We do not receive any information about your usage.

3. What is stored on your device

Everything the app needs is on your device:

  • Your alarms with time, label, weekdays, alarm sound, and the identifier of the assigned RiseUp Tag
  • Your streak, i.e., consecutive days, longest streak, last scan, and goals from onboarding
  • Records of triggered alarms as well as counters for scans, snoozes, and emergency stops, so that the streak view can calculate
  • Your settings such as language, appearance, volume, and number of confirmations
  • Alarm sounds that you import yourself

4. The NFC Tag

When scanning, the app only reads the permanently assigned serial number (UID) of the tag. No content is read from the tag and nothing is written to it. This number belongs to the piece of plastic, not to you and not to your phone. It is stored with the alarm so that the app recognizes whether you have scanned the correct tag.

5. Backup in your own cloud account

To ensure your alarms and streak survive a device change, the app uses your operating system's backup function.

iOS: The app stores its data via CloudKit in your private iCloud database. This is your iCloud account with Apple. We have no access to it and cannot view or retrieve this data. You can disable synchronization for RiseUp at any time in the iOS settings under iCloud.

Android: The app uses Android's automatic backup. Your data is stored in your Google account. We also have no access to this. You can disable automatic backup in the Android settings.

In both cases, Apple's or Google's terms apply to the storage. The legal basis is Art. 6 para. 1 lit. b GDPR, because the function is part of the app you want to use.

6. Permissions and what they are needed for

  • NFC: scan the tag to stop the alarm
  • Notifications: display the alarm call
  • Alarms and exact alarms: trigger the alarm to the minute, even when the app is closed
  • Start after reboot (Android): restore set alarms after a reboot
  • Media Library (iOS): only if you select your own song as an alarm sound

The app does not request location, contacts, camera, microphone, or health data. It does not access Apple Health or Health Connect.

7. Crash Reports

If the app crashes, it stores a report as a file on your device so that the error can be reproduced. This report is not sent. Independently, Apple and Google collect their own crash and performance data at the operating system level. This is done according to their specifications and your settings, not by us.

8. In-App Purchases

The "Restore Streak" function can be purchased in the app. The processing is entirely handled by the App Store or Google Play. We do not receive any payment data and do not store any.

9. No Tracking, No Advertising

The app does not use an advertising ID, no cross-app and cross-website tracking, and no advertising networks. In the Privacy Manifest of the iOS app, tracking is explicitly set to "no".

10. Deletion

In the app's settings, you can completely delete all data: alarms, streak, history, imported sounds, and tag assignments. If you uninstall the app, local data will be removed. Copies in your iCloud or Google backup can be deleted via the settings of the respective account.

11. Your Rights

You have the rights to information, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, and objection, as well as the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. The competent authority is the State Commissioner for Data Protection of Lower Saxony, Prinzenstraße 5, 30159 Hanover.

Since we do not collect any data about you and have no access to your device or cloud data, we cannot provide information about you or delete anything. You do both yourself in the app and in your cloud account.
